The GIEBEL adsorbers of the VV-R series are cost-effective solutions, which are constructed without valves. Due to the low differential pressure, this adsorber can also be used to aerate plastic tanks without any problems. The VV-R 1L is filled with 0,2kg of silica gel and thus has a water absorption capacity of 0,08l. With a 3μm-filter the sucked air is additionally cleaned. An activated carbon layer adsorbs oil mist and protects the desiccant as well as the environment from contamination.

The VV-R series adsorbers are refillable and can be filled with fresh desiccant within a few minutes. The possibility of replacing desiccant and wearing parts, leads to very favorable operating costs. The use of a refillable version is particularly useful for systems with a permanent air exchange and a related shorter service life.

Adsorption – drying of the supply air

Flowchart
The sucked air flows into the adsorber almost without pressure. After flowing into the adsorber, the air is distributed evenly over the cross-section. The prefilter disc frees the air from coarse dirt particles.
When the desiccant silica gel flows through, the water molecules are reliably removed from the air. The gap volume of the granulate is optimally selected with 2 to 5 mm grains and guarantees a minimum pressure build-up with very good drying efficiency at the same time. Thus, at the beginning of the drying process, a residual air humidity of max. 2 % rH and a dew point of -40 °C are achieved.
Due to the water absorption, the silica gel in the standard changes color from orange to green. A complete green coloration indicates the end of the product life cycle. The 3 µm filter ensures that all dirt particles are separated from the ambient air and the silica gel and that the connected plant is not contaminated.
In the case of outflowing air, the two-stage slosh protection prevents larger oil droplets from penetrating the desiccant. The activated carbon adsorbs the finest oil particles and thus enables the adsorber to regenerate itself.
These adsorbers are made of polycarbonate, polyamide, aluminum, silica gel orange, FKM and can be used for aeration of all common hydraulic and gear oils and lubricants, fuels, isocyanates.
