VV-D 5XL
The VV-D 5XL adsorber is a cost-effective solution without valves. With a capacity of 4,6kg dessicant, it adsorbs up to 1840ml of water from the air. Thanks to a 3μm filter, the sucked in air is also completely cleaned and an activated carbon layer adsorbs oil mist to protect the desiccant and the environment from contamination.

Product Description
The VV-D 5XL adsorber is a cost-effective solution without valves. With a capacity of 4,6kg dessicant, it adsorbs up to 1840ml of water from the air. Thanks to a 3μm filter, the sucked in air is also completely cleaned and an activated carbon layer adsorbs oil mist to protect the desiccant and the environment from contamination.
In the VV-D series, the entire adsorber is replaced after saturation, which minimizes maintenance requirements. Especially for plants with a permanent air exchange and only short maintenance periods, the use of a disposable version is recommended. When using an adsorber without valves, the pressure build-up is minimal and recommended for use on IBCs.

Method of operation

Adsorption – drying of the supply air
- The level in the system decreases
- Humid air is sucked in
- Air flows pressureless into adsorber
- Uniform flow through the adsorber
- Air is dried to 2%rH
- Silica gel changes color
- Air is filtered to 3μm
Dry and clean supply air

Desorption – Separation of oil particles
- The level in the system increases
- Dry, oily air is squeezed out
- Activated carbon absorbs oil mist
- Dry, oil-free air regenerates the silica gel
- Silica gel partially recolors
Self-regeneration and oil-free exhaust air
Technical Data

Flowchart
The sucked air flows into the adsorber almost without pressure. After flowing into the adsorber, the air is distributed evenly over the cross-section. The pre-filter disc already frees the air from coarse dirt particles at this point.
When the desiccant silica gel flows through, the water molecules are reliably removed from the air. The gap volume of the granulate is optimally selected with 2 to 5 mm grains and guarantees a minimum pressure build-up with simultaneous very good drying efficiency. At the beginning of the drying process, a residual air humidity of max. 2 % rH and a dew point of -40 °C are achieved. Due to the water absorption, the silica gel changes color from orange to green in the standard. A complete green coloration indicates the end of the product life cycle.
The 3 µm filter ensures that all dirt particles are separated from the ambient air and the silica gel and that the connected plant is not contaminated.
In the case of outflowing air, the two-stage slosh protection prevents larger oil droplets from entering the desiccant. The activated carbon also adsorbs the finest oil particles and thus enables the adsorber to regenerate itself.
Adsorbers of the VV-D series are made of polycarbonate, polyamide, silica gel orange-green, FKM and can be used for the aeration of all common hydraulic and gear oils as well as lubricants, fuels and isocyanates.
